En partenariat avec Antwerp Pride, le M HKA organise du 6 août au 6 septembre l’exposition TOGETHER. dont le commissariat est assuré par l’artiste Philip Huyghe. Nous invitons plusieurs artistes, parmi lesquels Carla Arocha & Stéphane Schraenen, Marijke De Roover, Philip Huyghe et Stef Van Looveren, à travailler de concert dans leur propre « bulle » autour de thèmes qui renforcent la communauté LGBTQIA+ en vue de monter une exposition inclusive. Par le biais de leur langage plastique et visuel, les artistes invités (entre autres Jack Davey, Kasper Bosmans, Jacolby Satterwhite, Cindy Sherman, Nan Goldin et Megan-Leigh Heilig) souhaitent donner corps à un monde dans lequel la diversité constitue une qualité qui véhicule des idées passionnantes et stimulantes dans le monde que nous partageons tous et toutes.
Cette année devait être une année de célébration : celle de la première Gay Pride Parade qui a eu lieu il y a précisément 50 ans, le 28 juin 1970, à New York, un an jour pour jour après le début des fameuses émeutes de Stonewall. Ces deux événements historiques marquent le début du Mouvement des Droits civiques LGBTQIA+ qui est parvenu à faire entendre ses revendications dans le monde entier et à forcer l’une des plus importantes évolutions sociales de notre époque actuelle.
En raison des mesures de sécurité contre le coronavirus, il n’y aura pour la première fois ni parade, ni manifestations, ni fêtes. L’organisation d’Antwerp Pride a par conséquent décidé de programmer du 5 au 9 août des événements de moins grande envergure sous le dénominateur commun Together we Pride, en tenant compte des règles de sécurité sanitaire en vigueur.
