“I work primarily as a sculptor engaged with textiles. However, the works presented in this exhibition show the range of my artistic language from sculptures to collage and video. There are two distinct themes that run through my work. The first is the dissection of the human anatomy and / or human character and my obsession with the digestive system - an intelligent organism linked to our subconscious. The second is that of archaeological totems, and sites of pre-historic human activity, as evidence of human existence and spirituality. Fundamentally, in my work, I attempt to dissect these elements to rebuild them sculpturally or two-dimensionally allowing me to further explore themes of sexual frustration and desire, anger, ritual, material form and hidden messages.”
