Installation
Manguinhos is a multi-media installation referring to Jorge Mario Jáuregui’s project in the Manguinhos Complex, an agglomeration of favelas in Rio. His architectural proposal consisted of elevating a train line which separated the community in two parts and creating in its place a “rambla”.
On the floor, you will see a groundplan of Rocinha, the biggest favela in Brazil. Explore Jáuregui’s project in Rocinha and read recent news about Rocinha’s “pacification”.
Read more about the favelas in Rio and the recent developments in the text bellow and in Dieter Roelstraete's (curator of A RUA) interview with Jorge Mario Jáuregui.
