M HKA & Stad Diest, Diest
27 November 2014 - 21 December 2014
Under the umbrella termVisite, the M HKA – in collaboration with LOCUS, the hub for libraries, cultural and community centres and local cultural policy - regularly organised exhibitions outside the museum. From 27.11.2014 to 21.12.2014, a number of key works of the M HKA collection were moved to the Citadel in Diest.
Artists reflected on the past and explored the prospects of this great site. Twenty professional artists were inspired by the site and created new work for a specific spot of the citadel. Additionally, artworks from the collection of the M HKA were borrowed in order to engage in dialogue with this military gem.
You could enjoy the contemporary art in itself, but also the new interpretation the artists gave the premises and site. A challenging initiative of contemporary art and military heritage, which also required the visitors to change their ways of observing and thinking about the future of this site.
