M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Jan & Paul Schietekat

° 1963

Born in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium), lives in Ghent (Belgium).

{C}1.      {C}The oeuvre of the artistic duo, and twin brothers, Jan and Paul Schietekat, is allied to the Belgian tradition of post-surrealist irony, relativism, absurdity and a rather playful/critical stance as concerns the 'sacred' status of the art work within today's visual culture.

Their art may be compared with that of contemporaries like Guillaume Bijl, Patrick Van Caeckenbergh and Wim Delvoye.  They all share a predilection for introducing banal elements and found objects into an art context.
