A collection of mouths speaking, singing, and shouting into microphones assault the reader in "Portraits", an album in white and black that shows an image serie that Antoni Muntadas has manipulated from pictures caught on the television or in newspappers.
The book explores the relationship between communication and mass-media culture page after page. The power of the symbols in our society and our reaction on them. The forms of exchanging information are transforming our way of life and our way to understand the world, concepts that are also a constant in Muntadas works. The serials and the repetitions of the same object are attacking the reader in this publication in the same way that mass-media does day after day, keeping the public away from reality.
