CLASH IN PORTUGAL BETWEEN MINISTRY STAFF AND THE POLICE
Employees in Portugal's Ministry of Social Communications and a detatchment of police clashed during a struggle for control of the ministry's headquarters in the centre of Lisbon. Police used their batons and tear gas to disperse the workers and their supporters who were picketing the building to prevent the entry of Lieutenant-Colonel LUIS FERREIRA da CUNHA, the Secretary of State for information, whom they want dismissed.
