After a geometric-abstract intermezzo, an empathy with the natural world takes a leading role in the work of Van Lint. Trees, plants, animals, substrata… are no longer taken as self-evident, and serve as the point of departure for vitalistic experiments in form. Taken superficially it seems that the painter shifts towards an informal working method, but impulsivity – if there is – is kept well under control. The aim is to meld nature’s absolute otherness with an intensity that a realistic image, no matter how perfect, can ever approach.
