Commemoration
Different forms of commemoration have recurred throughout Marshall’s career – personal commemoration, and collective commemoration. His series of paintings Lost Boys (1993-95) is a collection of portraits of young men who have, for various reasons, been imprisoned. The pictures are in a sense, memorials to the men’s non-existent futures, and their lost freedom.
