Malson (‘nightmare’ in Catalan) is a work from the series I Read It with Golden Fingers, which consists of books read by García with hands covered with golden dust. And while a book might impress (albeit metaphorically) the reader, the opposite also becomes feasible: the physical gestures inherent in the act of reading leave an imprint in the form of golden traces left while holding the book and turning the pages. Existing between the tangible (and the gold adds to its materiality) and the performative, Malson also brings together different temporalities, including that of a viewer.
