M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Literary synopsis

It’s 2003 and Eoin O’Shea, a second-generation Northern Irish immigrant is on his first tour-of-duty in Iraq. Back in Nottingham, his grandmother says the rosary, his girlfriend reads his horoscope, and their friends Meg and David perform a series of increasingly bizarre chaos magik rituals in the New College media hub. An alternately sad, funny, and just plain weird novel about the UK crisis of national identity, and what is means to be British – or faithless – at the dawn of the digital age.

Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice

Each of Susan Finlay's novels is its own thing, often unfashionably realist and written in the past tense. However, the author doubts that she would produce the books she does if she hadn’t been to art college. Film is a huge influence on everything she writes, as is the nouveau roman.
