M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Using photographic documentation and tape-recorded discussion with the resident at Jan Denucéstraat 3 in Antwerp, Willats considered the variety of objects around the living room collected and organised by the resident in order to make his work Contrasts in Form and Meaning. He understood these objects as a way to generate different networks of meanings. The contained environment of the living room was rich in objects that were stereotypes of contrasting attitudes to living, but which were made to co-exist. In the work, we see three networks for the audience to consider as a sequence: opposition – dependency – mutuality.
