M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

In 1992, Pflumm opened his club Elektro in Berlin, on the former premises of an electrical store, adopting the same name. The club, though small, became renowned for techno music, and became a convivial space for artists to convene and even to exhibit artworks. Pflumm himself would exhibit his works, and he produced light-box signs for the club. The club closed in 1994, and Pflumm made a video of the building being demolished as part of the gentrification process of Berlin. Shortly afterwards, he opened his second club Panasonic, as well as setting up the record label Elektro Music Department together with Klaus Kotai and Gabriel Loschelder. As well as being known for good techno music, the clubs played a part in the youth culture of Berlin, which was important for young people after the reunification of Germany for helping instil a sense of optimism in the future.
