DE AANPAK VAN DE KUNSTGESCHIEDENIS [ADDRESSING ART HISTORY]

Ensemble

Marshall has had a long-running concern with the Western tradition of producing art history, and its marginalisation of the black subject. Referring to various art historical styles and traditions, he incorporates these styles and symbols into his contemporary images. In the round hall and the adjacent rooms, numerous works can be seen which address the Western canon of art.

The M HKA bridges the relationship between artistic questions and wider societal issues, between the international and the regional, artists and public, tradition and innovation, reflection and presentation. Central here is the museum's collection with its ongoing acquisitions, as well as related areas of management and research.
