Miriam Bäckström
° 1967
Born in Stockholm (SE), lives in Stockholm (SE).
Miriam Bäckström’s oeuvre combines and transcends photography and video, theatrical writing and performance, objects and installation. She uses the term ‘character’ – the roles that we play and that play us, the qualities we perceive in people and things – as a precision tool for disassembling and reassembling image, language and behaviour. She seeks to create new behaviour, a new understanding of language, an image never before seen.
