Died in Audregnies (Belgium), born in Antwerp (Belgium).
Marthe Donas bids adieu to traditional pictorial language when, in 1926 in Paris, she comes in contact with cubism. Meets Archipenko, exhibits with other progressive artists in Paris and London; individual exhibition in Berlin in 1920; the Société Anonyme of Katherine Dreier and Marcel Duchamp acquires five works; publishes in avant-garde reviews. References to reality are minimal; she constructs her works with purely geometric forms. From 1922 onwards, figurative and narrative elements again make an appearance.
