M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

° 1954

Born in Bombay (IN), lives in London (GB).

'I don’t wish to make a sculpture about form… I wish to make sculpture about belief, or about passion, about experience, that is outside of material concern.'

Sculptor Anish Kapoor was raised in India, but has been living and working in England since the 1970s. During a trip to his country of birth in 1979, Kapoor rediscovers his Indian origins. Both the shapes and the symbolic use of colour in Kapoor's oeuvre reflect this Indian heritage. Nonetheless, his works always stand alone and function perfectly in a Western context. In this sense, Kapoor's oeuvre is not exotic or spiritual, but rather an investigation on the psychological and emotional powers we all carry within us, regardless of our cultural background. As he puts it himself: 'I don’t wish to make a sculpture about form… I wish to make sculpture about belief, or about passion, about experience, that is outside of material concern.'
