In zijn tijdschrift Critique schreef Georges Bataille over L’Agrégation d’un Nom et d’un Messie: “De jonge Isou heeft een leven net als elke andere tiener die verpest is door literatuur (en door onnoembare kennis), maar wordt voortgestuwd in de wereld door een schaamteloosheid die wakkerschudt – en wil wakkerschudden: Isou is onvoorstelbaar onbeleefd, immoreel en irrationeel.”
