The poetic landscape of the country with its vast steppes merging into the infinite sky brings thoughts about outer space. Hosting Baikonur, the world’s first spaceport, Kazakhstan has also witnessed the dawn of cosmonautics. The photographic series \u003ci\u003eAlien\u003c/i\u003e shows the artist, dressed in a handmade space-suite made of kitchen foil. Wandering alone as if in search of a way to present himself to the world, he finally reveals his face, playfully launching in the sky a part of what was his protective attire. Inspired by Akhmediyarov’s personal memories, the work refers to the feelings of loneliness and alienation experienced by the artist in Kazakhstani society. \u003ci\u003eAlien\u003c/i\u003e can also be seen as a broader reflection on the relationship between artists and the world.\u003c/p\u003e"},{"locale":"nl","short_description":"","description":"\u003cp\u003eAl lange tijd is het buitenaardse een populair onderwerp voor hedendaagse, Kazachse kunstenaars. Het poëtische landschap met de uitgestrekte steppes die overgaan in een oneindige hemel, doen namelijk denken aan de ruimte. Door Baikonur, de eerste ruimtehaven ter wereld, stond Kazachstan mee aan de wieg van de ruimtevaart. Hij zwerft alleen rond en lijkt op zoek naar een manier om zichzelf aan de wereld te presenteren.
