On the initiative of Dutch artist Louwrien Wijers, Joseph Beuys met the Dalai Lama in 1982 in Bonn. Previously, Beuys had expressed his wish to establish a permanent cooperation with the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, in order to realise his vision of Eurasia. The two men discussed art and politics, and began looking for links between Beuys' artistic practice and the activities of the Dalai Lama, and subsequently the Dalai Lama asked his government in exile to prepare a model for spiritual economics. Many friends and colleagues joined Beuys in Bonn for this historic occasion, documented in this book. The book was published in an edition of 108. A special proof of the book was printed for the occasion of a talk by Wijers at the ICC (International Cultural Centre) in Antwerp on 18 October 1983.
