Heart in Heart is formed of two intertwined bodies of texts that were transferred onto organza ribbon. The computer code for Linux kernel files drapes from the higher meat hook. These kernel files are the ‘heart’ of the operating system. Twenty-two love letters from Kanarek’s narrative World of Awe drape from the second meat hook. These love letters are written by a Traveler in a parallel world to a Lover in the common world. Both the Traveler and the Lover remain anonymous. The Traveler’s letters speak of longing and nostalgia. Heart in Heart is a meditation on the embodiment of narratives and their transformation once dislocated. Inquiry into the embodiment of language is a central theme in Yael Kanarek’s practice.
