The Roland TB-303 is a well-known bass synthesizer. Developed by Tadao Kikumoto in 1982, by order of Roland, this instrument was meant to imitate the sound of a bass guitar. In reality though, it doesn’t sound remotely as a real bass guitar and after 20,000 copies its production was shut down and the TB-303 was considered a “flop”. It wasn’t until the late eighties when the electronic dance music came into the scene that the instrument made a comeback in popularity. Which prompted Roland to market a replica of the TB-303, namely the MC-303 Groovebox.
