Maslov's 12 paintings from the series Dreams, donated by his heirs after the artist's death and brought to M HKA by Yelena Vorobyeva & Viktor Vorobyev. All paintings depict the head of a sleeping figure, vaguely smiling, as we witness his dreams and nightmares. Some are idyllic, some are terrifying, many are erotically charged. Painted during a timespan of almost 20 years, the series forms an imaginative and colourful insight into Maslov's innermost desires and fears. In the youngest painting, from 2000, we see a white male and a black female in intimate contact — a reference to Maslov's mythical 'affair' with singer Whitney Houston?
