Born in Simla (India).
Vivan Sundaram, was trained as a painter and graphic artist at M. S. University of Baroda, and Slade school of Art, London and is considered to be one of the pioneering installation artists of India. The film Structures of Memory deals with life during the colonial and postcolonial period in Calcutta. It includes clips and quotations from other well known cinematic and cultural material – such as the films of Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak.
