In 2015, the process of defining the winner of the collecting young Russian art V-A-C / M HKA scheme was broken into three stages. At first, Russian curators and institutions by invitation came up with an initial long list of eight artists: Evgeny Antufiev, Arnold Weber, Evgeny Granilshchikov, Arseny Zhilyaev, Nastya Kuzmina, Ivan Novikov, Sasha Pirogova and Mikhail Tolmachev. Following this, emerging curators, graduates of the V-A-C Moscow Curatorial Summer School: Ivan Isaev, Alexander Ivanov, Nataliya Protassenia, Maria Stepkina, and Anna Zhurbа, narrowed the list down to four finalists: Evgeny Antufiev, Evgeny Granilshchikov, Ivan Novikov, and Mikhail Tolmachev. Their artworks were presented at the one-day exhibition held on the 21st of October, 2015 at MEL Space in Moscow. The final stage was the council of the jury consisting of V-A-C Director Teresa Iarocci Mavica, M HKA Director Bart De Baere and guest jury member Vasif Kortun, Director and Curator of the non-profit institution, SALT, Istanbul. The winner became Evgeny Antufiev, whose installation Immortality Forever entered the M HKA permanent collection.
