The 2014 edition of the Present Continuous programme invited five Russian curators: Yulia Aksenova, Katerina Chuchalina, Ekaterina Inozemtseva, Andrey Parshikov, and Elena Yaichnikova, to nominate two young Russian artists each. After bringing the nominees to the table, the group had shortlisted four finalists: Evgeny Granilschikov, Andrey Kuzkin, Taus Makhacheva, and Urban Fauna Lab Collective, whose work was presented at the Cosmoscow art fair in Moscow. A jury consisting of V-A-C Director Teresa Iarocci Mavica, M HKA Director Bart De Baere, and guest jury member Lorenzo Benedetti, director of the Art Center De Vleeshal in Middelburg, the Netherlands, chose Taus Makhacheva as the winning artist, and her artworks Tightrope, Way of an Object, and Landscape eventually went to the M HKA Collection.
